SHOULD WE DO A pre-wedding photoshoot?


Short answer – yes!

Ok, that’s a bit short for a blog, so let me explain….


A wedding pre-shoot is a couples’ photography session ahead of your wedding. Here’s three reasons why I think they’re a great idea: 

1.It means your wedding day isn’t your first time in front of a camera.


Most people aren’t used to having their photo taken (why on earth would they be?!) and I totally understand that thinking about it can feel a bit weird/awkward/icky/intimidating.  It’s my job to make sure that you can relax, feel yourself, and – most of the time- forget that the camera’s even there. Having a relaxed pre-shoot means you can go into your wedding day knowing it’s way more fun than you thought it would be having your photo taken! 

2.I can get a sense of what works for you as a couple


Whilst I bring my own style of prompting and photography to your wedding day, I do also adjust my approach for every couple. Everyone is different – it stands to reason that what works for you photo-wise might vary too. Some people love moving around, and are comfiest when falling about laughing; others prefer to be more still, to have more time in a close embrace. And some like to mix it up! Either way, it’s great for me to see what  works for you -  it means we’re ahead of the game on your wedding day.  

3.We get to hang out!


I’m nice, honest 😉 In all seriousness, it’s a lovely opportunity to meet face to face and get to know each other a little bit.  It’s super important to me to have a real understanding of what matters to you both – what’s important  to you on your day, what’s your backstory, what are your weird and wonderful hobbies.....(in the spirit of sharing, mine are dog appreciation, (exceptionally bad) ballroom dancing and listening to podcasts on my current rabbithole subject of choice.)

SO WHAT NOW?


My full day package comes with a pre-shoot included, and you can always add it on to a mini-package for £200. You can also book it as a standalone if you like (then if you decide to book me as your wedding photographer later down the line, the price comes off your full day package). 



Of course, sometimes timing, cost or geography will get in the way of a pre-shoot. Or perhaps you just want to save the photography magic for your big day – I understand! But if you’re on the fence my advice is to hop on down, and get that pre-shoot booked – I reckon you might surprise yourself with how much fun you have, and you’ll get some great pics along the way.
